    Surrounded by a rich and deep string sound: in a portrait concert, members of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra explore the music of Sofia Gubaidulina, in whose decades-long oeuvre low string instruments have always played a special role.

    : Messiaen: St. François d’Assise

    The life of St Francis of Assisi, magnificently set to music by Olivier Messiaen: this opera closes the Musikfest with a spectacular production featuring the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra, Kent Nagano and Anna Prohaska as the Angel.

    : Martha Argerich Festival

    To mark the end of the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra’s season, star pianist Martha Argerich is inviting as artist-in-residencenumerous musical friends to take part in her festival throughout the city. Three concerts take place in the Elbphilharmonie.
