David GarrettIconic Tour 2023
This event is in the past.
With his personal selection of works by Bach, Dvořák, Gluck, Kreisler, Mendelssohn and Schumann, David Garrett’s new programme recalls the Golden Age of violin virtuosos – artists such as Zino Francescatti, Arthur Grumiaux, Jascha Heifetz, Fritz Kreisler and Yehudi Menuhin, who enchanted their audiences with their miniatures and familiar encores. Having admired them and others since childhood and striving to emulate their artistry, he immersed himself in their epochal recordings.

“Unfortunately, some of the short pieces that the greats of the 1920s and 1930s performed in their concerts have gradually been dropped by violinists in the past decades,” says Garrett. “So I’m thrilled to have the opportunity of bringing all these wonderful pieces back to life.”
The works come to life on his new album “Iconic”, which will be released at the beginning of November, and on the concert tour of the same name. “The point of the works on ‘Iconic’ is not the virtuosity,” says the violinist. “They have beautiful melodies and bring closer to the listener what really matters in life – harmony!”
